I love to get up early. The house is quiet, the sky is still dark. It’s the perfect opportunity to set my intentions and reflect on my blessings before the dawn of yet another busy day. I wasn’t always an early bird though! It wasn’t until the birth of my first child in 2008, that I started making the most of the wee hours of the morning. You see 5am - 6 30am seemed to be the only time that I could count on my newborn sleeping and rather than vacuuming the floor or washing the dishes, I used this precious time to recharge and to fill my cup doing things that I loved. Think yoga, meditation, self development, creative work and coffee!
The routine just kinda stuck and these days the early hours have become my favourite part of the day. I enjoy nothing more than a short and sweet yoga practice to start the morning and this is the exact routine that I still use almost every single day. It takes less than 5 minutes and it is a great way to bring some gentle movement through the body and to help to maintain health and flexibility through the spine.
