Post Workout Facial

Hello There!

I first started using entirely green beauty and cruelty free products around 6 years ago after I had my first child, as I was horrified by how many toxic chemicals were found in children’s bath and skin products. This lead to me to discover that nearly everything that I was using in my own beauty routine, from make up to skin care, was laden with harmful ingredients, and extremely dangerous to our environment. Imagine what happens when we use products with artificial foaming agents in them, or plastic micro beads, they get washed into our drains and waterways and are swallowed by birds, fish, turtles and other marine life. Yuck!

But enough doom and gloom, there are ways to support your skins health and our environment, that are super easy to do, and products that can even be added to your work or gym bag!

If you are like me and often attend the gym first thing in the morning chances are you haven't put on make up yet, but using a good hydration mist before and during your work out will keep your skin hydrated, cool and fresh. Look for mists that are 100% natural with all botanical names on the back, I often like to pick up the certified Organic Rosehip Mist by Essano from the supermarket when I need an extra mist in my bag. This one smells amazing and has some knock out ingredients including Kakadu plum, which is high in antioxidants and Aloe Vera which is so wonderfully soothing for hot and flushed skin.

If of course you have just come from work and you DO have make up on, the best thing to do before a work out is to remove it. Your skin will not thank you for working out in your make up because when it mingles with sweat and grime from the gym, this is a sure fire way to develop skin irritations and congestion, which leads to breakouts. Never fear! There are some amazing face wipes on the market, and we can now get certified organic wipes, that are biodegradable too. Which means our wipes wont be sitting in landfill for 500 years. So good! So always make sure you wipe off that make up!

And we all love a pamper right! So after an intense workout, our skin can feel tight and sometimes sore from all the sweaty face wiping, so one of my favourite quick and easy, fun and yummy DIY face masks is a sure way to bring some life back into tired skin!

It’s the Greek yogurt face mask!


What you will neeD:

  • Organic Full Greek Yogurt
  • Organic Blueberries
  • Organic Honey
  • Lemon Essential oils, I recommend Doterra.
  1. Mix 2 big tablespoons into a bowl, mix in a handful of blueberries, a dollop of honey and 3-4 drops of lemon essential oil.
  2. Mix together vigorously to a paste and apply to face! The mask should have a rad purple tinge to it, from all the crushed blueberries!
  3. Leave on for 20 mins or however long you can really! Can be eaten afterwards.

The enzymes within the yogurt work as a natural exfoliate, to leave your skin soft and smooth, the blueberries are filled with antioxidants and vitamins to strengthen and boost your skins tone and reduce pores. The honey is loaded with anti bacterial properties to help clear up congestion and the lemon essential oil, used sparingly is wonderful to brighten the skin!
